Xbox 360 in Stores Early November? June. 02, 2005 @ 03:58PM GMT +10 |
It looks like the XBOX 360 will be released early Novemeber:
The majority of the games are slated for release on 11/02/2005 with a few on the sheet slated for within a week after. The games included FIFA 2006, Tiger Woods, and many others (did not see a Halo though…which leads me to suspect it will come out when PS3 comes out). Games were priced at $59.99 which is a $10 premium to current prices.

ATI Interview with Jimmy Dinh June. 02, 2005 @ 03:47PM GMT +10 |
DriversHeaven had an interview with ATI's Jimmy Dinh:
Driverheaven:
Why not put the extra memory on the highest end X850XT range? Surely the market for the X850 range would be more receptive to the extra onboard RAM.
Jimmy:
The plan from the get-go was to introduce 512MB to a product that we felt was very strong at the price point it was currently playing in. The X800 XL 256MB at $299 was a natural candidate to get the 512MB treatment, since the cost premium for doubling up the graphics memory put this product into a price point that we felt was still very competitive with other products it would be competing against. We easily could have put 512MB on the X850 products, but with our next generation architecture on the horizon, we thought it would be best to wait. Our competition recently offered a 512MB product (6800 Ultra 512MB) that can be had for about $900 USD, but quite honestly I feel this is out of reach for most people including gaming enthusiasts. |

More PS3 Price Speculation June. 01, 2005 @ 06:34PM GMT +10 |
Sydney, 31st May 2005 – Reports circulating in the Japanese media are currently speculating that the pricing of Sony's forthcoming Playstation 3 console will follow the same trend as the PS2. The PS3 is expected out in Japan's 'next Spring', and it is believed it will launch at 39,800 Yen (about AU$485, US$400 or £200). The Xbox launched at a highly competitive 34,800 Yen at its ill-fated debut, while the Cube popped-up at ridiculously reasonable 25,000 Yen.
The latest rumours are said to emerge from leaks sourced through Sony's business partners, who have indicated to Japanese websites like Impress PC Watch that the PS3 will launch at a price point below 40,000 Yen. Not cheap, then, but certainly not the monstrous fee some analysts have mooted when noting the cost of the PS3's advanced innards to Sony.
Last week, Japanese rag the Mainichi Daily News speculated that the price might be as high as 50,000 Yen, a hefty price in the competitive Japanese hardware market. The Xbox 360, unveiled at LA's E3 showcase, is expected out in Japan this northern winter - with the PS3 following in the northern Spring - the key Japanese market is likely to prove a pivotal testing ground for both systems' consumer appeal. |

ATI will soon introduce its Catalyst 5.6 driver and we have the feeling that this might happen on the seventh of June, we might be wrong about the date, it's not yet specific but you never know...
