computer keeps freezing up
« on: March 24, 2004, 02:37:45 AM »

It started like 3 or 4 days ago, i booted the computer up and i was just surfing the net and it frooze up, nothing unusual, but the HDD indicator was completly orange.  I restarted it and everything worked great, but the next time i restarted and got the desktop it froze up again, and then the next time as well,, then it worked.  SO i left it on for like 2 days again and now this time it froze up 3 times before.  Also i've been getting sporadic times when the computer freezes up for a few seconds at a time.  When i restart and go to the BIOS the CPU temp  is fine and the fans are fine.  Any ideas, i'll probally just end up trying to reinstall windows but i might have to reformat and that would blow.  I've ran virus scanner and it checks out

Ok I would have these problems as well with my old system and I found it out to be the problem with my video card fan. Sometimes I couldn't get to windows even it just kept locking up and other times it would go to windows and be fine. I would check you video cards fan just because it my be on it last leg. Also have you recently add a part or anything to the computer maybe you dont have a big enough power supply. Also you may want to look and see if you memory is bad sometimes it will do the same thing so I would take good memory that you know of and slap it in there and see if that works. These are just all suggetions so if you could post your system specs that would also be helpful!! "Z"
