just got a geforce 4200 ti, wanna replace the heatsink with a thermaltake one, but the heatsink seems to have attached itself via solidifying thermal grease.... help?
I assume youve removed the clips on the back of the card? Use pliers and push them out if you havent already. Then gently twist the heatsink and it should come right off.
you need to take your time trying to get it off, put it into your PC and run something very vid card intensive for a while till it gets nice and hot, then rip it out of your PC and try to get the heatsink off.

Drop Kick it stick it in your freezer for 6 hrs let it get nice and cold then take it out of the freezer and drop kick it! works every time try it...
but seriously from the looks of that pic someone put that sink on there and seeings how there are no clips someone has epoxyed it on the card meaning its going to be a bitch to get that S**t to break loose. id try a blow dryer get it nice and hott (not too hott) and see if the glue will come loose? either way man take your time and try not to pull the vpu off with the heat sink....
