Well, Im guessing its a downloaded copy, in which case theres not a hell of a lot you can do. Suppoosing its off kazaa every 200mb's of it you download theres likely to be a corrupt file and theres no way to fix that. Otherwise if its a legal copy, it could be a problem with your memory, either your system memory or you video cards memory, most likely a bad stick of RAM. Have you been having problems like this with other games? Also a few basic things you could try before you do anything major, if your overclocking anything then try resetting that, and you could try reinstalling the game. Hope this helps...

Have you installed WinXP service pack 2? I was getting a lot of errors like that with other programs when I first installed SP2. If you have installed it, uninstall it and try doom3 again.

Yep, programs suddenly quitting, restarts/bsods all sound like a possible memory problem I would try downloading the iso/floppy image of memtest86+ from http://www.memtest.org and give it a spin... Hope that helps...

As i said before, try running a memory test just to make sure thats okay...it doesnt take too long anyway, like 10 minutes i think...

Well you know what that means... Obviously the first stick is fine, but its time to return the second stick So if you only have the good stick in the machine, you get ntfs.sys is corrupt?

Ok so you ran a test on the new stick in another computer and it passed okay?
That could mean that theres a problem with the actual slot in your computer, try putting the ram into a different slot and running another test and seeing if it helps...

Might be worth taking it back and getting them to try it then, obviously its not your computer...
Programs shutting themselves down is definately a memory problem.

Have you tried increasing your memory timings a bit, its possible that you're using settings that the new ram can't handle, I doubt it but its still a possibility.
