Topic: How should I set Inlet and Outlet fans? (Read 103 times)

I was examining a case the other day and I'm thinking of getting it. It has a fan on the rear and a place for another one close to it, and another fan on the side panel {on a window} for a total of 3 fans. How should the fans be setup to get the best ventilation? I mean which fans are pulling air in and which are pushing hot air out? any info?

fan on the front panel if its got space for one, blowing in
fan on back, blowing out
side panel, blowing out I think

Shouldn't matter too much, provided you got at least one fan blowing out of the case you should be fine...

Thanx man. I'll leave the rear one blowing out and set up the panel fan to blow in, I think that will help cool the cpu as it will supply the cpu fan with outside air, what do u think?

I'm not too sure about the panel one, try it both ways, whatever gives you lowest temps stick with, I would think that it blowing out would be slightly better, but as I said I'm not totally sure...

Well... blowing cold air in at the front is most important. Hell, i mixed up the sides on my case, and had them up side down, they have tiny air vents on the bottum... about 20cm long by 2cm tall.. which let cold air in for the front fan to blow over the case, and because they were up the top not down the bottum, the case temperatures rose 5-10 degrease... I was so shocked, it was just a grille, the fans were still the same and its not like they even suck there air from the grills mainly, there just kinda at the side of the case... When i flipped the sides back around... Back to normal, 3 minutes later, temps were back down... Stupid thing  |

This was just a grille position.... Nothing relating to the fans at all... When i had accidently one back fan blowing in and one blowing out... the north bridge temperature was literally 15-20 degrease higher... Didnt really worry the cpu to much. I have a bundeled cpu cooler, so u cant exacally get it backwards.

front and sides blowing in rear blowing out and if you have some in the top then have them blowing out as well cause we all know that hot air rises

I had a case with:
2x rear fans
2x front fans
1x window fan
Since I was oc'ing I configed them like this:
2x front fans blowing in
2x rear fans blowing out
1x window fan blowing in (blowing directly over the NB and Vidcard)
This setup helped me reach system temps of 23c on my old epox board.

yeah...i made pci fans a while ago except it was outta old pci graphics cards...worked pretty well...unfortunately the problem with my graphics card not overclocking any more is voltage related...They'll come in use when i get my 9800pro on wednesday hopefully tho |
