Ati drivers
« on: September 30, 2004, 01:35:55 PM »

Just before when I restarted my pc the drivers (cat 4.9) for my 9800 didnt load, so I looked in thew device manager to see that the driver had an exclamation mark because "this device cannot start". I decided to just reinstall the drivers but it didnt do the test thingy it usually does and still "this device cannot start". wtf? I tried to install different versions drivers but same problem. Anyone have this problem before? How do I fix it?

Download driver cleaner from http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/, reboot into safe mode, run that on all the ati ones in the dropdown box, then reinstall the proper driver once rebooted back into normal windows, that'll remove any last traces of old drivers..I'm gussing some files conflicting...

Yeah i figure that now because when I forced windows to install the omega drivers for a 9800pro it works flawlessly. Oh well, I'll have to try driver cleaner later, I didnt even think of that before, thanks.

Glad to see that you got it sorted out. I reinstalled before I got my new card, my old windows install was totally screwed, does it good to reinstall every few months anyway, It's amazing how fast everything becomes again...
