I have a Intel 3ghz prescott proc. With a Thermalright SLK-900 HSF and a 90mm Vantec Tornado. My computer seems to be running at 48c. I was wondering what is the normal operation temp of this prescott proc. My computer is damn loud, and i want to add a fan controller, but if I slow down my fan I will gain heat. should I look into liquid cooling, or can this proc. run at a little higher heat.

I think 48C is quite cool for a prescott, theyre supposed to run damn hot. Not really any problems there, unless you want to seriously overclock it, then a water cooling system would be awsome.

My cpu has been running at around 70C for ages probably a couple of years and it still works. You dont have anything to worry about.

I should be getting a volcano 11 xaser edition for mine today. That should keep the temps down a bit better than the piece of crap cooling it now.

Well I have decided to give Watercooling a spin. I ordered my water pump 2 days ago. I purchased the Via Aqua 1300. As soon as i get it in the mail I will go out and purchase the rest of the things. I just want to make sure i get the right size tubing for the pump.

to tell you the truth I have it only slightly overclocked. I noticed in some games like BF: Vietnam strange lines start to appear for some odd reason. I guess that game is very sensitive to overclocking. So i was forced to underclock the card a bit. I am running my card at 344 core/688 memory. Oh , and yes I am planning on cooling the GPU also. I am still seraching for a good waterblock for the CPU, and I also need a WB for the GPU. I went ahead and ordered a 77 Pontiac Bonneville heatercore since they are talked about alot. I also have a Via Aqua 1300 pump coming. I got some 1/2' barbs, and 10' of tubing for the setup also. It looks as if things are coming together nicely. I cant wait to get the heater core so I can soldier on the barbs.
