Is it enough? How much power would you need these days? If I get a Raedon 9600XT, 512 RAM etc etc. P4 uses more power so maybe Athlon XP is the go?

You'll probably be fine, if it's a good quality PSU, with only a 9600XT.

I think ur right Grov. 300 watts would be enough for those stats but I am gonna probably get a Midi Tower Color Light 370 watts for $100 just to be safe. It doesn't make much of a difference but who cares.

Wrong, totally bad advice.
Certain PSU's are cheap for a reason, there S**t. Why skimp on something that powers your whole system? can't understand it, if you buy a cheap ass, crap PSU, you will regret it. Get a quality PSU like Antec or Enermax, Thermaltake and Sparkle are pretty good as well.

Does it really matter if its an antec , or some no brand psu , as long as it gives the specified watts then i think it should be aight , im not gonna pay more just because a psu has antec written on it that probably delivers the same performance...Im not saying go with CRAP , but go with something decent and for a good price. Ok , and im using a no brand psu i got from my old alienware case and ive never had problems , run mbm5 and my voltages on everything are rock stable , and the way they should be for my system . Have used my friends thermaltake at his dads shop and had the same exact readouts on mbm5 underload and idle. For all we know the branded psu's could be badged up generic psu's...

lmao, your using an ALIENWARE thats why, they know exactly what kind of PSU they are getting and wether it will keep solid voltages. A PSU in an alienware is most likely an generic PS made in the same factory as an antec PSU Very rarely do "no name" power supplys perform even close to there rated voltage, my 550 watt no-name performs much much worse than my 450 watt enermax, sure the 550 saved me some cash but the performence was horrible. I STRONLY recomend you go w/ an enermax, antec or thermaltake PSU, its well worth the extra money because of the long warentys and the fact that they will perform at the rated voltage. if you want help w/ picking one out MSN me @ ecsnowwolf

Exactly.
An alienware??? we all know how quality they are, it's bound to be good lol.
Ever heard of Q-tec?... yes there wank. The 550watt here is 30quid, wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
Ill probably be getting a 480watt Enermax or Antec, maybe even a 550watt, as the new cards need S**t loads of power, and i wanna push more volts through this CPU.

I'd go w/ one of these new enermax's the noisetaker, they have seperate 12V rails, which is really good for a high performence system....
