No that probly will never happen, there is a bigger market for PC's than gaming consoles...so the demand to make more powerful computers is rising all the time. The new xbox will be extremely powerful, but it wont be better than PC.

3x3.5ghz cpus...noone needs 3 cpus,(besides nasa, and massive servers)let alone in a console eg.the ps2 is compareable to xbox it only has a 500mhz cpu 128ram and 32megs of video memory... altho it would be future proof IF thay get the graphics right..
but 3cpu`s thats a bit overboard and very expencive!
but despite that it would be pretty cool
oh and ps2 ppl do like games, hence y ppl have these computers.

the pc market may be the trendsetter with more powerful and prettier graphics, the consoles aren't 'crap' as some say they are. a console is build from the ground up just to play games. something as old as a ps2 can produce wonderful graphics, just look at silent hill 3 and gt4, we are looking at a aging machine that can produce stunning graphics. xbox, we've seen stuff like halo2 and fable, whose hardware specs compared to a pc seem antiquated.
xbox2, is a much more powerful machine as well as the ps3. i'll leave you to fill out the rest.
this is what ign.com had to say about the graphics,
Below the North Bridge is the all-important graphics chip. The 500MHz clocked core chip has 10 Megs of dedicated EDRAM, which will likely be used for more specific special effects. While that doesn't sound like much, Microsoft's current console has no graphics-dedicated RAM. Those 10MBs will keep a majority of the 256 MBs of main RAM free for other applications. This chip, presumably still of ATI make and specially created for Xenon, looks to be beyond the best graphics available on PC now or in the foreseeable future, but should be comparable to those high-end cards by the time Xenon is release in 2005 (unless it's delayed).
another thing i wanted to add is that the console market is much much bigger than the pc market. i think that's pretty obvious, dunno how you came up with that claim. also that it's cheaper to buy a console than just buy a graphics board which is expensive than 2 or more of those consoles.
and ps2master, your question about who cares for games these days, this is the answer. sony's e3 lineup (more to come)

the real question is HOW MUCH WILL IT COST! While m$ may be rich, they'd probally still take HUGE loss selling it for $500, and while it may seem that m$'s funds are infiinite they can't afford to take a huge loss on every console made. $500 is alot for a console two. Plus the heatsink on that thing will probally be large, if they use the power PC chips on the 65nm proccess(IBM has been having trouble doing the 90nm thing lately) it will still be hot having 3 of them, and since IBM will be supplying chips for gamecube2 and xbox2(and PS3's cell?) if they have any problems in production its going to a huge shortage. I dont know about how valid these claims are b/c of the price, i honestly can't see M$ making a profit off them until every user buys *lots* of games. Of course there will be the price drops, etc, marketing which will cost them more money.

Just cause there pumpin out the games.... meh i dont care lol.
And that diagram was made on word, look at the underlines... You get what you get... when the console comes out you will see, i dont see the point arguing about a few words on something anyone could have made.

We can take off aa and fssa and every other filter made..
