An ounce of sweat saves a gallon of blood...

Alright, after doing some reading, I've gathered that despite the rising popularity of the wireless 802.11g networking, if you just have a normal cable connection, you won't be using even all of the 802.11b's bandwidth. 802.11g can send at 54 mb/s, and 802.11b can send at 11 mb/s. I want to hook up a router and wirelessly network my Xbox so that I can finally get xbox live. I don't see the point in getting the 802.11g(even though I've heard it has increased range, the xbox is only about 80-100 feet from the computer(through a few walls) anyway. I've also read on forums where people have said that the 802.11b works fine for them. Considering that the 802.11b is cheaper, I'd prefer to go with that. Is there any strong reason why I need to get 802.11g? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=&skuId=4221407&productCategoryId=pcmcat&type=productthats the router http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=36&prid=550and thats the xbox adapter I would get. Are these good choices? They look solid, and I've heard good things about linksys.

Maybe it is because doing an full overhaul of his comp will be too much work and too costy? A HP isn't that easy to make a hotrod out of.

Yeah, and my pc doesn't really need an overhaul anyway. It still plays games just fine, and the only pc game I'm looking forward to playing is the expansion pack for Call of Duty. Halo 2 looks like it'll be pretty awesome, and thats not coming to pc, and the requirements would be incredibly too high anyway if it was anything like Halo 1 for pc. I realize that a pc is much more versatile, and the best games usually come to pc first, but I'm not quite 16, and don't have the unlimited budget I wish I did.
And, Sweeper, you're right. An HP is no hot rod. They screwed me over with a small PSU (150 watts if I remember correctly), so I can't replace the graphics card anyway... *sigh* Oh well, I'm more of an average gamer anyway, not exactly "hard-core".
