Damn it looks real sweet! I hope its actually going to be as good as it looks, but considering the NFS series track record recently Im not expecting too much from it. The last two NFS's were terrible.

On the contrary, i think the last 2 need for speed games are the only good ones. Hot persuit 2 rocked, and underground, well, it was arcady, and unrealistic, and kinda crap, but it was still a fun blast!

I wish they would make a Need for Speed that combines the ability to own more than one car and the awsome career mode from NFS high stakes, the ability to add heaps of custom parts to your car from nfs 5, and the street racing aspect of nfs underground. That would be a sweet game! I wouldnt want anything from NFS HP2, cant agree with you about that game ps2, for me it was just terrible in about every way possible.

I found HP2 good, nfs series arnt like gran turismo, so i wish they would stop trying to copy them, im glad that stupid upgrade system was told buy buy.... Hot persuit 2 was a bit of fun i recon, NFS games are nothing more than arcady. But yeah... Underground was a really bad with the track similarity, but, yeah, it didnt stop me finishing it. 3 times...

The blast from the past!

Downshifting loses speed yes, but my technique is different, I still keep the pedal floored on corner entry, and thats when I start a nice little drift to allign myself for the exit and out of the corner I go at high speed.
Last races isn't the most easy ones, Eddie cheats big time, even if you go as fast as you want because he uses "Catch-up logic" which means he matches your speed. Melissa does that too, but it is more fun racing her, just guide her into whatever you find, delivery vans, light poles, side streets etc.

I know, but you need some technique to be fast... I still remember the first time I tried the game, LOL I sucked so badly, so if I could race myself I would win while driving at part throttle.
Well I use Engine brake to dump speed quickly, handbrake in 90 degree corners (Requires timing, screw it up and you lose too much speed.) I also take an agressive short line, cutting corners. Nothing is like the feeling when you skid past an opponent sideways though, especially in Gran Turismo but that is OT.

Gran Turismo 3's physicis i didnt like, it seemed like you were going to slow...
GT4 is just over the horrizen (late this year), and it is gunna completely revolutionise everything... Our savior has come *the racing game one anyway *, gotta have a ps2 to play it tho.

No way, the GT series are great were they are, we dont wanta bring them into the world of Pc's, they are elite, and therefor dont need to spread to every market, i know tons of people who buy ps2's for these games only... If we were to bring them to the computer people would mod them and do all sorts of crap, the developers like the ps2 platform and can mould the game so it runs identical on every system, a industry benchmark... They can custom build the physicis, graphics etc...
This is why they use the ps2. Plus its made by sony.

I think online play on PC is a bonus, although you can get that on consoles now... I gotta admit the analog controls on a console are a lot better for driving games, it allows you a lot more control over the car, but it would take a bit of getting used to.

Halo ran slow, and really borred me... But i dunno, i just didnt enjoy it.
Why would they bother converting it to PC? It loses its Elite status when they do cheap ports to every system just for extra sales, its built for ps2, perfected for it, and it will stay on it.

Im glad the ps2 dont get it... cant stand FPS's on consoles, they always suck, dont see why everyone made such a deal from Halo, its just another FPS... lame as them all.

Yeah imo consoles just arent the thing for FPS games, I think that a mouse+keyboard will always beat a hand controller... But other games, such as racing games are better on the console...You get a lot more control...

RSI is repetitve strain injury... You will feel it when you get older, from typing so much, and controllers.
Everytime your hands are sore from using them, than thats strain, if you keep doing it, than when your older they will be perminently damaged...
Thats why you shouldnt play games for 5 hours strait (not like youd want to anyway), keep having breaks and use it as a every other hour type thing, not a rule over your life type thing.
In general "hardcore" gamers are anti social, unfit, unhealthy, unpopular at school, and their body's wont like it when they get older. But there popular on their internet forums

Feel that if you want
Im not saying all gamers are like that, im just saying that alot of them are unfit and stuff, i by no means say that everyone who plays alot of games is.. Cos i know that cant be true.
And yeah well iv been here a long time, and trust me, a few quick posts is alot different to actually sitting down and having a proper game on whatever for 5 hours strait.

I'm guessing you've met the millions of gamers from around the world and know all of their social and physical attributes? Most likely not.
Thats like me saying that most people who eat at McDonalds are fat and lazy. Yes I've seen some fat people eat there, but it would be plain ignorant for me to make that assumption for everyone that eats there. Make sense?
And you say that people who have high end systems are typically the hardcore gamers that spend most of their time being antisocial on the computer. Jealousy maybe? What about perc.... he has top of the line S**t, and last time I checked he's not a huge gamer (more examples if you would like). Maybe its just a hobby to build computers... say kind of like upgrading cars? When you build up a fast car you're not racing it all the time are you? BTW, I've met quite a few people who have pissed away most of their life and have gotten into a HUGE amount of debt spending $$ on their car... can't say the same about anyone with computers. There is also a car show in my area every Friday and lots of the people there are "unfit" and lowlifes. Guess I should think that about most car enthusiasts now.
Sorry didn't mean to rant off... I just find it kind of funny that a few people lately have been insulting hardware enthusiaists/gamers on this site. Everyone has other things to do in their lives, this site just focuses on something that 95% of us share in common.

Name: sKiDmArK Posts: per day) I think i misunderstood what i said, note the use of "hardcore gamers", people that call themselves hardcore, usually go to non stop lans, play games all day, blah blah blah, you know the wrap.
I dont think there are many people in society today who arnt gamers, even the fit athletes, cool footy heads etc etc.
Yes, people build computers as a hoby, i dont know my point, you cant tell me that alot of hardcore gamers arnt anti social? But i mean completely hardcore, some guys spend 10/24 hours a day on the computer, most of which playing games, and you cant deny that thats bad?

I finished Half life in 3 sections once... So i cant say iv never done it, but that was years ago, these days i just feel like i have so much better stuff i could be doing. And proberbly not as long'a attention span as when i was younger.

I agree with you that playing games for 5+ hours straight every day is very unhealthy... and I think LAN parties are pretty damn fruitty. But once again you're generalizing "hardcore gamers" into your own definition and labeling people.... it seems more like you're talking about obsessive compulsive gamer freaks that have no life besides the computer. In my eyes there's a difference.
Do I consider myself a hardcore gamer? Yea probably. I play on average 1-3 hours during a weekday and 3-6 hours on a weekend... some times not at all (yesterday actually). I've played games over 5 hours+ straight before (Gran Turismo 2 first day it came out), I usally don't, but if I have nothing else to do I will. I'm not unhealthy (6'4" 185lbs), I'm not antisocial (a little shy maybe sometimes), I work, go to school blah blah blah ect. Why would I consider myself a hardcore gamer? Because its something I do regularly and I think I'm fairly "good" at mostly everything I play. I also keep up with gaming news, gaming hardware and all that junk. I don't just casually play every once in a while and not really have a clue whats going in the gaming world, and I think thats what separates it. I know quite a few people who look at it the same way as I do.
And lol, trust me I'm not modeling myself after what a hardcore gamer is... just trying to show you that maybe you're thinking a little too extreme when you describe a "hardcore gamer". I understand what you're saying now though.... but obsessive behavior like that can happen in a lot more things besides computers and gaming. Just here for my typical rant .

Yeah, when I get a new game, sometimes I play it to death, but I try not to because usually it gets boring after a while...

Skidmark, thats very true, yeah i see what your saying...
My term of hardcore gamer is someone i know *na, he's never been to these forums*
he climbs out of bed, computer on, plays that all day, rarelly moves from it, and is still on it at like 11 in the nite sometimes... He is very over weight and unfit, and his friends, well basically all his friends talk about is computers, his life orbits around them.
Thats what i would call an overkill...
But playing games for a few hours every day is not really an obsession, more a passion... And if it doesnt control people's life, i can definetly accept that.

See after been at ausfx for a while, u will realise, just cos the topic says one thing, it doesnt necessarily mean thats what its about.
It could be about the new athlon 64 chip, and end up about a massive flam war between any 2-5 random members... You never know whats inside
