Title: The next console might be for me....
Post by: erock on October 26, 2004, 01:14:25 PM
I've really lost my interest in PC Gaming... im not sure what it is.. whether its the community and fun of playing along side a mate on a couch a good casual game or what it is... but i think ill let my pc become what it becomes and just get the next console that comes along and just play that.

dont quote me on this ... things might change lol  ;D

I used to be like that but then I grew older and learned about the advantages a pc has over a console and changed my mind. I will probably still buy an xbox 2 or the next playstation or whatever. But NEVER EVER anything nintendo!

Wellll, Xbox 2(whatever its called this week) and Playstation 3 aren't so far away.  I won't be affording them on launch date, but I plan to get an xbox 2 eventually.  I can't upgrade my computer so I don't really play new games on it nowadays... No HL2 for Kyle...which is my name btw, if anyone wondered... O0

and im off to bed, goodnight ausfx

There was never a shortage for the X-boxes so I think the most they ever were was ~$300.  The PS2s were going for $1200-$1800 on Ebay for a little while, because there was a huge drought of them shipping here.  There were also some kids in Japan who were mugging people for theirs.

I felt almost the same...
But then I got a PS2 and GT3 and now I return to the PC with a new refreshed feeling, it helped me to feel true racing, now I can attack Underground even better, time to try the NFSU 2 demo today.

How powerful will the PS3 be?
Sony has formed a partnership with Toshiba and IBM, to make a processor called the Cell. The processor is actually a collection of smaller processors. Software packets, called “cells”, are then sent to each of the smaller processors in order to give instructions on what tasks to perform. Potentially, the processor will be able to calculate up to 1 trillion floating-point calculations per second. It has been rumoured by some that the PS3 will be up to 1000 times more powerful - however this is unlikely. The actual specs haven’t been released by Sony yet, but we shall keep you informed when they are.
