gfx in certain games screwing up....
« on: March 17, 2004, 07:09:54 AM »

ok, in the past few games i have played ive had real bad graphics problems. when i tried to play planetside today for the first time all i could see was white, with the occasional bit of an object. my card does the same when tring to play freelancer.

i have a screenshot of what planetside looked like.

my card is a geforce 4 MX440 w/AGP x 8 and has the latest drivers. can anyone help me here?

I'm going to assume u have direct x 9? Other system specs would help to. Stuff like AA and AS filtering should be off on a card like that.

I have had the same problem as you. It was an heat issue, the heat sink was not properly attached to the gpu and the gpu got damaged. Had to buy an new card.

You could check your heat sink and see if it is properly attached or if the fan is working...

I remember the same image corruption when my ti4200 had a transistor burn out on the board , the ogl part of the card worked m so i could play cs and quake3 , but the d3d part was f**cked , and i would get the same texture corruption as you in games like tft . Check if your card has any visible damage , and try smelling it-worked for me couldent find the burn till i smelt it , and that smell is hella strong.

Are you getting this in all games , what version of dets you have ?

latest version dets, the ones released on april 1st

doesnt happen in all games, generally only in the latest releases, far cry freelancer, planetside etc.

i did that smell test you suggested, couldnt smell anythnig and couldnt see any physical damage. the heatsink was securly fastened.

forgive the name change, i forgot my password
