Well just make sure you get the right bios, and check that it actually runs at XT speeds by ocing it with atitool or something and then playing a reasonably-intensive game like ut2004 or far cry for a while to make sure it doesnt artifact, then you should be okay to flash it.

Well, all 9800 PROS should have a 256-bit memory interface. Not all of them have the XT cores, ie an R360, so you might be left with just Oc'ing in windows, but if you get a R360, you can flash it to an XT and have the extra shaders etc that the R360 has.

but is it better than if you have XT,
and you have a newer chip so it should be faster?
but I cant find these chips on internet, they dont show on internet what kinda chip is in it.

Nah, if you OC the pro to XT clock speeds, there shouldnt be any real performance difference i think

Nah, PROS are only meant to have R350 chips, but you are lucky if you get an R360. If you wanna flash to an XT you have to have the correct type of memory too (I think its hynix :S)

Yeah the one that you're talking about shouldnt be too bad, especially if by chance its got an R360, since then you can have a TRUE XT.

A true 9800XT has 256mb ram. So if you have a 9800 PRO with 256mb ram thats the right type, and an R360, you can mod it to a true 9800XT. If you get the 128mb version, you can mod it to a XT but it won't be a true one because it will only have half video memory.
