GeForce 6800GS: An Overview
November. 15, 2005 @ 02:46PM GMT +10

CoolTechZone have an overview of the recently released NVIDIA GeForce 6800GS graphics card:

"[t]he card is based on the older NV42 core and not the G70 (7800GT/GTX). Since it’s based on the 110nm process instead of the 130nm (NV40), the chip runs cooler and can have higher clock speeds. Therefore, it’s no surprise that at 425MHz, it’s clocked higher than the 6800 Ultra that’s clocked at 400MHz."

November. 11, 2005 @ 02:00PM GMT +10

SANTA CLARA, CA—November 7, 2005—NVIDIA Corporation (Nasdaq: NVDA), the worldwide leader in programmable graphics processor technologies, today announced the immediate availability of the new NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS graphics processing unit (GPU), the latest addition to the Company’s award-winning line-up of GPUs. Just in time to power the holiday’s hottest gaming titles, the new GeForce 6800 GS has astonishing horsepower and dramatically shifts performance expectations for graphics cards at midrange price points.

“If you look at the roster of the games anticipated to be hot for the holiday season—including Age of Empires 3™, Call of Duty™ 2, Quake™4, or Serious Sam™ 2—the common thread is that they all support the latest 3D features and require a lot of graphics performance to deliver an enjoyable gaming experience,” stated Ujesh Desai, general manager of desktop GPUs at NVIDIA. “Graphics cards based on GeForce 6800 GS GPUs deliver the 3D eye-candy with the necessary performance for total gaming immersion, but do so at a new, lower price point.”

ATi RV560 Info Emerged
November. 11, 2005 @ 01:51PM GMT +10

Although ATI has just announced the Radeon X1000 family consists of X1300 (RV515), X1600 (RV530) and X1800 (R520) but the internal department isn't too pleased with their performance so far. Therefore, ATi is stepping up their effort on the next generation R580 and has already completed the design and development process so the performance should be looking good. ATi also plans to further improve the RV530 series performance. Right now, RV530 has 12PS/5VS but has only 4 ROP and 4 TMU with 128-bit memory interface therefore the performance isn't too great. Therefore ATi plans to push out improved version of RV530 and the improved version will be known as RV560 and most likely will support 256-bit memory interface.
